On April 11, the “Seminar on New Energy Ships and Green Transformation of the Shipping Industry” hosted by the China Institute of Navigation was held at CSI Group. Liu Shun, Executive Secretary General of the China Institute of Navigation, Ji Yongbo, Director of the Ship Center of the Water Transport Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, as well as representatives from the Zhejiang Society of Navigation, Zhejiang Ocean University, Ningbo Association for Science and Technology, Ningbo Marine Transportation, and over 20 enterprises and academic experts attended. Lou Hua, Deputy General Manager of CSI Group, delivered the welcome speech.
The seminar focused on in-depth discussions around green transformation in shipping and innovation across the full industrial chain of new energy ships. Topics included the urgency and strategic importance of the low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry, policies and trends in the development of new and clean energy ships. Experts agreed that systemic breakthroughs in technology, cost optimization, infrastructure development, and policy guidance are essential. Current challenges include difficulties in fuel storage and refueling, and operating cost inversions. It is necessary to accelerate the R&D of core technologies like new energy power systems, coordinate energy island layouts and route planning, and promote standardization and industrial chain collaboration. Moreover, efforts should be made to explore diversified business models, increase policy support, and enhance cooperation between industry, academia, and research to accelerate technological transformation, build a green shipping ecosystem, and help China gain a competitive edge in global green shipping.
In recent years, the city of Ningbo has actively developed its marine economy and promoted the green transformation of the shipping industry. As a leading domestic brand in marine power equipment, CSI Group relies on platforms such as its National Enterprise Technology Center and Postdoctoral Workstation. It has undertaken and completed several national-level research projects, successfully developed and industrialized key products like dual-fuel engines and high-power electronically controlled common rail engines, providing vital support for marine new energy technologies. Looking ahead, CSI Power (Ning Dong) will continue to empower development through technological innovation, deepen collaboration among industry, academia, research, and government, focus on innovation in the new energy ship industry, and continuously foster new quality productive forces to inject strong momentum into high-quality economic development.
